Terms of service
Effective May 11, 2026
By downloading or using mactooloud, you agree to these terms. They cover how the app works, what you pay (or don't), and the usual disclaimers. We've kept them as plain-English as we can.
1. The service
mactooloud is a macOS application that gives every running app its own volume slider, plus features like Auto-Duck on calls, per-app device routing, Whisper Mode, Pomodoro / Focus Audio, and saved audio profiles. It runs locally on your Mac; audio is processed on-device and never leaves it.
2. Your account
You need an account (created via the website) to subscribe. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe. mactooloud is licensed per Mac — one device may be signed in at a time per subscription. Signing in on a new Mac automatically signs out the previous one.
You must be at least 13 to use mactooloud.
3. Plans and payment
The current plans:
- Monthly — $4.99 per month, charged on the day you subscribe and on the same day each month afterwards.
- Yearly — $39 per year.
- Lifetime — $90 once, for one Mac. Includes every future mactooloud update for the foreseeable lifetime of the product. Signed in on a new Mac? The licence moves with your account.
All payments are processed by Razorpay. Prices are in USD unless your local Razorpay account converts them.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the Billing page in your account — your access continues until the end of the period you've paid for.
Free trial. mactooloud offers a 7-day free trial. No card is required to start, and you won't be charged unless you subscribe after the trial.
4. Refunds
All sales are final. mactooloud does not process refunds on subscription charges or lifetime purchases.
This is why we offer a 7-day free trial with no card required — try every feature end-to-end before you pay anything. If mactooloud isn't for you, don't subscribe.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Billing page to prevent future charges — you'll keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Cancelling does not refund the current period.
If a charge was made in error (double-charged, wrong plan, unauthorised card), email hello@mactooloud.com and we'll fix it. Anything outside of that falls under this no-refunds policy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the mactooloud binary, except as expressly allowed by law.
- Redistribute mactooloud, your license, or your account credentials.
- Use mactooloud to violate someone else's rights or any applicable law.
6. Intellectual property
mactooloud, its source, its brand, and all associated materials are owned by ByteLights. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on a Mac you own or control, for as long as your subscription is active (or forever, for a Lifetime licence).
Your personal settings, profiles, and any data you create inside mactooloud are yours.
7. Service availability
We try to keep mactooloud's backend (website, sign-in, billing) reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Your installed Mac app keeps working during brief outages — it only needs the backend to verify your subscription periodically.
We may make changes to features, pricing, or these terms. We'll give you reasonable notice for material changes that affect you.
8. Disclaimers
mactooloud is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
mactooloud touches the macOS audio subsystem. We've tested extensively, but if it ever behaves badly with your specific hardware or software setup, please tell us so we can fix it.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, ByteLights' total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to mactooloud is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
10. Termination
You can stop using mactooloud and cancel your subscription at any time. We can suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms; we'll let you know why and, where reasonable, give you a chance to fix it.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be brought in the courts located in that jurisdiction. If you're in a region with stronger consumer protections, those still apply — these terms don't override them.
12. Changes to these terms
We'll post any updates to this page with a new effective date. For material changes, we'll also email you. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
